Behind the Scenes at Aussie Aluminium

2021 Business Excellence Award in the Building and Trades category at the Port Lincoln Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Business Excellence Awards

We’re constantly improving our business, learning and fine tuning our craft and working together as a team to ensure Aussie Aluminium deliver a quality premium product for our customers.

Learn more about what has been going on behind the scenes in our business over the last 12 months…

1.We Won!

Davis and Tiffany are honoured to have been awarded the 2021 Business Excellence Award in the Building and Trades category at the Port Lincoln Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Business Excellence Awards night.

2. John Won!

John Peters has been in the industry for over 40 years and is our Workshop Supervisor and he recently won the National South Australian State Industry Service Award for the Australian Glass and Window Association. This is a prestigious award and demonstrates the commitment he has to our team and the industry.

3. Davis & Tiffany became sole owners.

Davis and Tiffany have been in business for almost 4 years. They started as partners of Aussie Aluminium but have been sole owners for the past year. Their focus is on providing a superior quality product of aluminium windows and doors. Davis' extensive knowledge on large commercial construction and Project Management from his experience in working FIFO in WA for over 13 years means Aussie Aluminium can now undertake a lot more complex commercial work.

4. Entrepreneurs Program

Tiffany was successful in Aussie Aluminium entering the Entrepreneurs Program run by the Australian Government. Being involved in the program gave access to industry business leaders who were able to guide Aussie Aluminium towards a clear and precise business plan. The Grant saw Aussie Aluminium rebuild their website and rebrand themselves on social media platforms to reflect where they are in the industry. Research and development have seen many positive changes within the efficiencies in the running of the business.

5. New Showroom

It will be the largest showroom in our region and the current feedback from our builders has been incredibly positive as it enables them to freely demonstrate each product as it would be in an actual home/premise.

6. Redesign of Workshop

Aside from having a record year in fabrication and delivery we have also fully redesigned our workshop - decreasing the amount of manual handling required when fabricating large doors and windows.

In 2020 we acquired an automated Glass Cutting Machine which enabled us to increase production and reduce glass wastage. This has led us to have two staff undertaking the Cert III Glass and Glazing apprenticeship.

7. Partnership with University SA Physiotherapy Students

We recognise the importance of providing a safe compliant workplace. We have hosted two groups of University SA Physiotherapy students partnering with the University of South Australia to allow their students to do work placements at our business. The projects undertaken by the students have been to perform a full ergonomic assessment on our administration and management workstations.

They have performed an assessment of the workflow of the full fabrication process, from this designed exercises and feedback to our fabrication team for them to maintain good physical health from such physically demanding roles. We have also had pre-employment medical checks designed by these students to include in our pre-employment process.

Aussie Aluminium is an aluminium window and door fabricating business manufacturing, supply and installing quality, sometimes very complex window and door solutions for many builders and customers throughout South Australia.
